2010 ALL SCHOOL REUNION
Schedule of Events

July 2, 2010
Friday

  • Registration:   10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.    High School Gymnasium
    Come to the high school to receive your registration packet, pick up your
    T-shirts, enjoy some refreshments and greet your classmates.
  • School Tours:    10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Starting at the High School
    We invite you to sign up for a tour of the Scott City schools.  You can sign up when you receive your registration packet.  No fee will be charged and transportation between schools will be provided.  School Tours will also be offered on Saturday after the parade until 2:00 p.m.
  • Golf Tournament:      9:00 a.m.     Scott City Country Club
    Enjoy some time on the golf course to start off your alumni reunion weekend.  To register for the tournament, you must contact Jim Rodenbeek by e-mail, jrodenbeek@rgagency.com or by phone at 620-872-5803.  Click here for a link to more information.
  • Historical Tour:  10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Departs from SCHS

    You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see the many historical and cultural landmarks of the Scott County area.The tour will include, Battle Canyon, El Quartelejo ruins at the state park, buffalo viewing, Keystone Gallery and Monument Rocks.There will be a $10 fee to cover the cost of the lunch and for the buses.You must pre-register for this tour.Click here to sign up for the Historical Tour.  Be sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray, a hat and water!

    • New Plaques on Alumni Wall

The Opening Reception will feature the Fine Arts Wing of the renovated high school.  This wing was still under construction during our last reunion.  Music instructors from SCHS past and present have been invited to attend the reunion as our guests and will be honored during this reception and at other events throughout the weekend.  The Board of Education has approved the SCHS alumni request to name the vocal music room in honor of Jean Hardy and the band room in honor of Vernon Dietz.  Signage for these newly-designated rooms will be unveiled. 
The reunion theme of Celebrating 50 years of High Schools Musicals will also be commemorated with the unveiling of hand-painted tiles depicting musicals performed from 1960 to 2010.  These tiles will be hung and displayed in the Fine Arts Hallway.  Also, unveiled will be new plaques on Alumni Wall and the Senior Composites.  Both of these displays are located in the Main Corridor of SCHS.    

  •  Draggin’ Main            Friday evening and all weekend long
    Do we really have to tell you how to do this???  Friday night relive those high school years when so much of your free time was spent Draggin Main!  What was your route?  Who’s bringing that special car that’s been hiding in storage all these years?  We invite you to have a good time driving your old route up and down Main Street (but with common sense, of course.  After all, you are NOT in high school anymore)!
  • Class Gatherings        To prepare your floats for Parade
    Friday evening will be a time for classes to get together to prepare your float or entry in the Reunion Parade on Saturday morning.   Be sure to make a sign designating what year your class graduated.

  • Walk.Run.Roll        7:00 a.m.         State Park
    Walk, run or stroll (strollers and wheelchairs only) while you enjoy the beauty of Scott State Park.  Both a 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer course will be offered.  To register: go to the Walk.Run.Roll website at www.walkrunrollscottcity.com beginning March 1, 2010.  For questions contact Suzanne Griffith at 620-872-7182 or 620-874-1363. 
  • All School Reunion Parade:  10:00 a.m.       Main Street, Scott City
    Participants be at Palmer Park at 9:00 a.m.
    The community will line up along Main Street to watch this favorite of Reunion events.  Classes are encouraged to participate by entering floats, vintage cars, horses, even walking to make the parade special.  There will be special floats for the grand marshalls and music instructors.
  • Registration continues:   11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   High School Gym
    Following the parade, registration will be open for late arrivals.  You can pick up your registration packet and T-shirts.
  • School Tours:  11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.       Starts at the High School
    Tours of Scott City schools will again be offered during this time.  You can sign up for a tour time when you get your registration packet either Friday or Saturday. 
  • Mud Volleyball Tourney:      12:00 p.m. start      Sports Complex
    The Scott City Recreation Commission is sponsoring this event. Teams will need to register with the SCR office.  It’s a 6 versus 6 Coed Tournament and participants must be 16 years or older.  Round up your classmates, show some class spirit and sponsor a team!  For rules and registration information visit the SCR website at http://www.scottrec.org/mudvolleyball.html  or contact Jordan Shay by e-mail: assistantdirector@scottrec.org or phone: 620-872-2372.
  • Decade Gatherings:   2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.   School/town gyms
    We’ll update this site with more information about specific locations as we finalize our reunion plans.  Information about decade gatherings will also be in your registration packet.
  • Class  Gatherings:    To meet at time/place designated by classes
    Plans for Saturday evening are up to the individual classes.  Your class may have included a notice with specific plans in the February Alumni mailing.  Many classes are planning their gathering using the SCHS Alumni Facebook page.  Click here to visit this site.

  • Church & individual preference: Noon meal to be offered by some by                                                    churches and community                                                    organizations.
    Sunday will be a time to attend the church of your choice.  Some church and community organizations will be offering a noon meal for you to enjoy.  After church you can enjoy time with family and friends.
  • Poker Run/Lunch:   11:00 a.m.       Meet at City Park

We are privileged to have Ed Beckley sponsoring and organizing our Poker Race. Participants will need to sign up directly with Ed by contacting him at the e-mail address above.  The Poker Run will be for street legal motorcycles, street rods or any street legal licensed vehicles.  Participants will meet at City Park, travel to the State Park and also visit other sights.  The Poker Run and lunch is at no cost to participants, courtesy of Ed Beckley Racing.  Donations are welcome and volunteers are needed.  Contact Ed if you wish to donate food or help with this event.  
                                                                                         

  • Barbeque Supper:   6:00 p.m.         Fairgrounds
    Sunday evening we will all get together for a complete barbeque beef meal.  There will be plenty of food and lots of serving lines!  The cost of this meal is included in your registration fee.  Your name tag is your meal card.
  • Talent Showcase:   7:00 - 9:00       Fairgrounds Grandstand

    A Talent Showcase featuring Scott City Alumni will be held on Sunday evening.  Thanks to the Scott County Arts Council for organizing this event.  GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER NOW.  Soloists, Alumni choruses and other groups of talented alumni are encouraged to participate.  To get your act scheduled in the talent showcase or to get more information click here.   • Alumni Dances:    9:00 p.m.         4-H Buildings and Arena
    Whether you are from the boogie-woogie era or wanting a more hip time, there will be an alumni dance for you to enjoy.  Stroll around the fairgrounds on Saturday evening and you are sure to find dance music you will like at one of the three dance venues.  Admission to the dances is part of your registration fee.  You must have your name tag to gain entry.
  • Fireworks:       At dark
    The finale of our All School Reunion will be a fireworks show. Fireworks will be shot from the SRC soccer fields and can easily be seen from the fairgrounds, football field and other locations around town.
